KITX: ethical & fashionable

KITX: ethical & fashionable-Debs Boutique

Australian designer Kit Willow dedicated her brand to ethical and low-impact design. Willow’s main concern is the sourcing of materials: She mostly uses 100% organic silk, or switches to cupro, which has a similar feel but is made from recycled cellulose, a byproduct of cotton.“Fashion is the second-biggest polluter in the world, and a lot of it comes down to the materials,” she explains.
Her positioning on eco-friendly material sourcing is based on two fundamental facts: Traceability and working with fabrics whose manufacturing is not damaging the planet's natural resources including the wellbeing of the farmers. During London Fashion Week, Willow's designs were shown in the Buckingham Palace as part of an initiative for the Commonwealth Fashion Council which teams up designers and artisans to create pieces that are environmentally conscious.

NO.10 COLLECTION x WOOLMARK

For the "NO.10 collection" KITX is collaborating withWoolmark draping into tailoring and dresses. The fabric used - Australian merino wool - is grown year-round from merino sheep who live a largely carefree existence grazing on extensive grassland terrain and are free-range. The wool fibre is composed entirely of natural keratin that biodegrades over time and slowly releases valuable nutrients back into the earth as a fertiliser.
It is a completely renewable fibre!!
The Woolmark company is subsidiary for australian wool innovation, a not-for profit enterprise that conducts research, development and marketing along the worldwide supply chain for Australian wool on behalf of about 60,000 woolgrowers that help fund the company.
